monogrammed window

i had a space to fill on my dining room wall.

Photobucket

remember this small vintage window? it was the perfect size.

Photobucket

i sanded it a little. taped the window off with painters tape and a paper grocery bag.

Photobucket

the window was a little too white for what i was going for. i love this heirloom white spray paint from Home Depot. it was the perfect color.

Photobucket

i had this idea to put a monogram in the middle. i have a friend kara that does that vinyl that you see everywhere. the stuff is amazing! i emailed her and she made me this really cute birdie monogram and i just LOVE it!

here is her website if you are interested.

have you ever added vinyl to anything before? it is SO easy.

first center it in the middle and tape the very top with removable tape.

Photobucket

use something with a straight edge like this scrapper or a credit card and press firmly all over your vinyl. this will make the vinyl stick to the top paper (the piece that looks like wax paper.)

Photobucket

lift your vinyl up and remove the paper on the bottom.

Photobucket

when it is removed place the vinyl back where it was centered. the tape will keep it nice and straight.

Photobucket

use your straight edge once again and rub the whole vinyl. this will make the actual vinyl stick to the surface you want it.

Photobucket

start with the corner and peal the wax paper off.

Photobucket

it is as easy as that! you can get vinyl at craft stores or order it from people like my friend kara.

About Us

Well hello there!

I am Tanya...wife and stay-at-home mom.

I especially love spending time with my family, sewing, and crafting.

Here is my family.
My husband Travis, son Trey, and daughter Lucy.

Ohhh how I love this guy.  He is such a good boy, so sweet, and very silly, always up for an adventure.

This is my sass in her pants Lucy lu.
She goes from being the sweetest angel you have ever seen in your life to the sassiest little monster on the planet, all in the matter of seconds.  We love her and wouldn't change her one bit!

Last year it came time to send my oldest to kindergarten.
At the last minute I bagged that idea, and decided to try out a brand new adventure homeschooling!

Don't you think for even a second that it is perfectly blissful around here!

We have as many problems as the next family...but we try to enjoy life by doing the things that we love together.

This life is an adventure!

Come a long with us as we attempt to make the best of it!

Happy Crafting!

2 years apart

a month and a half after trey's second birthday lucy was born. 2 years seemed a perfect spread. "they will play, laugh, and love all the days of their lives," i would think to my naive little self :o)

this past weekend these two fought from from sunrise to sunset. i was thinking that i was probably the most terrible mother on the face of this planet. what was i thinking having these kids so close together!? by sunday afternoon when i was just about ready to throw my hands up in the air and run screaming down our street.

i looked out into our backyard to see this...

Photobucket

lucy had asked if she could have a picnic. i set up a blanket and her dinner outside. when i looked outside trey had joined her.

Photobucket

they were playing, laughing, and loving every minute of each other.

Photobucket

"good job trey," i heard lucy saying.

"ohhhhh that's pretty lucy," trey returned her compliment.

Photobucket

these are the little moments that a mom lives for. i realized in that little moment that even though i often feel like i am failing in so many ways, that i really must be doing something right.
