monogrammed window

i had a space to fill on my dining room wall.

Photobucket

remember this small vintage window? it was the perfect size.

Photobucket

i sanded it a little. taped the window off with painters tape and a paper grocery bag.

Photobucket

the window was a little too white for what i was going for. i love this heirloom white spray paint from Home Depot. it was the perfect color.

Photobucket

i had this idea to put a monogram in the middle. i have a friend kara that does that vinyl that you see everywhere. the stuff is amazing! i emailed her and she made me this really cute birdie monogram and i just LOVE it!

here is her website if you are interested.

have you ever added vinyl to anything before? it is SO easy.

first center it in the middle and tape the very top with removable tape.

Photobucket

use something with a straight edge like this scrapper or a credit card and press firmly all over your vinyl. this will make the vinyl stick to the top paper (the piece that looks like wax paper.)

Photobucket

lift your vinyl up and remove the paper on the bottom.

Photobucket

when it is removed place the vinyl back where it was centered. the tape will keep it nice and straight.

Photobucket

use your straight edge once again and rub the whole vinyl. this will make the actual vinyl stick to the surface you want it.

Photobucket

start with the corner and peal the wax paper off.

Photobucket

it is as easy as that! you can get vinyl at craft stores or order it from people like my friend kara.

Hi, I'm here from U-Create where this post was featured!

What a great idea! You know, I have this vinyl I bought several months ago. I've been wanting to put it up but I had to temporarily rearrange my living room, and I didn't want ot put it up til I was able to get the living room the way I want it to be. Then last week I had the thought to put it on the glass of a photo frame. then I can move it if it's not quite centred where I want it to be later. I haven't done that yet (no time - have a funeral and a wedding to attend this week, I feel like Hugh Grant all of a sudden lol) but this post just proves to me that my idea would be a good one! Thanks! Going to check out your blog and see what other goodies you have on here. :)

I love how you did this window!
I like doing projects with old windows!
I've never used vinyl before, probably cause I'm too cheap!

This is great! I am loving your blog and my head is spinning trying to decide what craft or project to try first. I think the tie onesies because I have a baby boy gift to make soon.
For this project I am in love with the monogram/bird design. Your friend does not sell vinyl anymore...any ideas on where I could get vinyl similar to this design? Thanks!!!

Tanya, you rock! That idea was amazing! It looks so nice. I have a broken window in my viagra online office here at NYC, so maybe I can something like that. Thank you for the idea.

Great post! I?m just starting out in community management/marketing media and trying to learn how to do it well - resources like this article are incredibly helpful. As our company is based in the US, it?s all a bit new to us. The example above is something that I worry about as well, how to show your own genuine enthusiasm and share the fact that your product is useful in that case. Judi Bola Sbobet
