i should have never started

about an hour after i had finished my first attempt at spray painting, i remembered this nightstand that i had sitting in my garage.

at this point...nothing in my house was safe from the spray.

Photobucket

story behind the nightstand:

i saw this nightstand on trey's preschool teachers front porch. it had been there the whole school year and was in pretty bad shape. one day i decided to ask her what she was planning to do with it.

"i was planning on taking it to goodwill but just hadn't gotten around to it," she said.

music to this girls ears, and just like that i was loading this little gem into the back of my car.

Photobucket

i washed it, sanded it, and sprayed it.

Photobucket

i replaced the old knob with the sweetest little pink crystal knob you have ever seen. (knob purchased at target)

Photobucket

we recently moved lucy out of her crib, she and trey are sharing a room now. she has the cutest tiniest little corner of the room, it was too small for a big nightstand. this little nightstand is the perfect size!

more pictures of lucy's little corner to come.

Photobucket

while the nightstand was drying i ran into the house for something else i could paint. by this time i had lost all control of myself. i have had these three stars in my house for a few months now. they were all a brownish color and they kind of bothered me. so i grabbed two and ran outside and started spraying.

Photobucket

here are the stars now...poor things never knew what hit 'em.

spray paint=addicted

I have never really used it before. I have seen so many bloggers becomming addicted to spraypaint. I had to try it out for myself to see what all this fuss was about.

Photobucket

I headed down to a second hand store and found these two old windows. (oh do i have plans for that little window in the right. but that is for another post) You can get them lots of places. I found a bunch just by typing in "vintage window" onto craigslist. Just keep your eye out for one.

Photobucket

This window was SO old. It was in pretty bad shape. It was missing a glass pane but I figured no one would really notice. I scraped off all of the chipping paint with one of those metal scrappers our husbands always have laying around the garage :o) I am not sure what they are called.

Photobucket

Then my sweet craft slave helped me wash it to remove any dirt and grime.

Photobucket

Then I cut paper bags into squares and used them to tape off the glass.

Photobucket

I made sure I wasn't standing too close to the window and sprayed several light coats of paint with a can of white pray paint; making sure to let each coat dry before applying another.

Photobucket

Then I found a ribbon and a wreath in my craft closet and tied it to the top of the window.

Photobucket

This project took me about and hour and a half! It wasn't bad at all! And now I can't stop spray painting. This is sad news for my marriage. My husband needs to keep a better eye on me.

the 4th & trying to be a cool mom

the night of the 4th we had just got back from a week long camping trip. we were exhausted and dirty! on the way home we pulled off at the fireworks stand closest to our home. we had a couple of hours to kill before the sunset so we could let off our fireworks. we unloaded our packed to the brim car and trey, lucy, and i played outside in the neighborhood while we waited for it to get dark.

as trey has been growing up, it is becoming harder for me to be "cool" enough for him to want to hangout with. it makes me sad to know that mom is not as cool as she used to be to this little man.

he is always asking for his friends to come over. he loves the older boys in the neighborhood that can do tricks on their bikes and skateboard.

i have decided that i won't lay down and let those boys beat me out of the top of trey's favorite list.

here i am practicing my razor scooter tricks.
videos of my rockin that razor to come.

(photo taken by my handsome little trey boy)

before we left for camping i was at this website ordering this swimsuit
(isn't it so cute!!??) and i came across this wolverine t-shirt. i had to have it! i knew i would so score cool mom points with trey. when we got back from camping, i had travis run to the mailbox to see if it had come, and it had! i put it right on!

(trey is obsessed with wolverine after seeing a preview for the movie.)

i am definitely the only mom in the neighborhood with one.

(trey doing his wolverine claws :)

(trey doing his wolverine claws once more :)

as the sun was going down i cut open leftover watermelon from our camping trip, and we all partook of its summery deliciousness :o)

after the sunset, we got down to firework business.
sparklers were sparkled and fireworks fired.

we bathed the kids of their camping filthiness, brushed their teeth, and put their pajamas on.
we all climbed into the comforts of our own beds, in our own house, so happy to be home, and fell asleep within minutes.

*update-the link for the swimsuit is sometimes not showing the picture of the suit because they are low in sizes. keep checking back if you are interested because they update it often. urban outfitters had some really cute one-piece suits at the beginning of the season. most have sold out so keep them in mind for next year.

last thailand post seriously

while in thailand, i saw so many things i had never seen before.
a few of these things would stop me in my tracks!

these little bunnies were one of them.
they were the tiniest, fluffiest, sweetest little things.

they sell them at their huge outdoor market.

they sold little dresses with matching accessories.

just look at that crochet hat with the three tiny flowers.

i could barely even stand it!
so weird...but so cute.

they sold these itty bitty leashes for them.

i wanted to bad to buy one and bring it home for trey and lucy.
i wasn't sure i would make it through customs with one these fluffy friends.

seriously look at them. have you ever seen such a thing?
