well hello everybody!
i have had several readers ask for a video on how i made these roses.
i made a picture tutorial you can take a look at here...
but i realize that a video would make it so much easier to follow.
i love my readers...so i did it!
i have never made a video that was cut and put back together so this is a first for me.
i am a little shy about it and felt like a dork while making it :o), but if it will help you guys that i am all for it!
while i was making this video trey came up to me and said "hey mom what the heck are you doing?" i had to cut that part out! then later, when he was making top ramen on the store-top, i heard him explaining every step of just how he was doing it...i was so embarrassed for the both of us.
here's how to make it...
here's how to sew it...
i had to show you this pillow that i finished!
i used the same steps as in the video but added 3 more thicker strips of fabric.
the pillow in the back with the yellow flowers i did not make...found it at
target!
it is still there for $24.99!
stay tuned for more!
i am making these hats for christmas gifts!
now with the video you can too!
p.s. this is going to be huge to my husband and anyone that knows me...after listening to these videos i now realize how soft spoken i really am and that i truly do mumble. i can't believe i admitted that! no one can ever hear what i am saying and now i know why. i am going to get so much crap from my husband for all the times i have said "nevermind" after he as asked me to repeat myself.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! I've been trying to find a way to make these flowers for so long! Thanks for sharing this!
Awe-some!
Don't you think you should do a little giveaway for some of those pillows? They rock! Or sell them...that would work too.
Making these ASAP! :-)
thanks! i have a tutorial for the rolled rose on my blog too, they are smaller and have frayed edges. anyways i hot glue mine as i go, then you don't have to sew them. i am going to make some cute giant ones like yours though. love the pillows!
NICE WORK! I'm proud of ya! Did you use the little camera trav gotcha?
I think this will be the beginning of many great video-tutorials from you!:)
Hi,
Your illustrated tute was clear enough so I didn't feel the need to watch the video, but your comments about your voice, and your embarrassment about Trey mimicking - they made me watch it! So. You are perfectly audible and clear: please don't worry on that score. And the instructions are straightforward and simple so if Trey is copying you, you can be proud of it. :)
you do beautiful work my friend!I think I might try this one. I always say that. But this time, I really mean it. :) Do you get home decor fabric?
Pamela,
The yellow flowers I made for my hair are a linen look a like. not real linen. The floral fabric on the pillow is just a regular cotton.
Thank you so much for posting this video! It was a huge help to me. I love, love, love the pillow you made. I almost bought the same one with they yellow flowers at Target. I have the bedding that goes with it and I LOVE it! I need to go back and get that pillow.
Tanya,
I am a fairly new follower to your blog. I love this flower! I made one but with some silky material so it didn't quite turn out the same but I love this technique. I am blogging about it tomorrow. Thanks!

Anthony is going to make it now...Jessica posted your blog on his FB page with the tutorial...when he makes them, maybe you can post it? Anyway, great job on the pillows per usual.
Perfect turtorial! thank you.
I just need to mention that I to am a soft spoken mumbler. The thing I think I hate most is when someone just smiles and pretends they know what I said.
oh my gosh you are too cute. i watched the video just so i could hear your sweet voice :)
I just jumped over here from Sewfearless, and love love love everything I see! Adding you to my reader :)

These are so cool! Would you mind sharing how you did the big patterned flower on the white pillow? Did you just up the size of the fabric strip by an inch?
I was thinking how pleasant and kind your voice sounded. Love this post!
I found this on Pintrest and clicked through! I'm so excited to try this on my pillows. And now I know how to do rosettes! I didn't realize they were so simple. Thank you so much for teaching me!

I want to see that tutorial because I want to make something beautiful like that rose, I'm gonna start to make different things and you'd ask why, it is because I spend long hours trying Buy Viagra because i HAVE SOME hormonal disorders and that's the moment to switch my mind.
Love this! LOVE LOVE! Thank you for sharing!
so pretty! Thanks!
I found your blog via Pinterest. I pinned this flower tutorial forever ago, but yesterday, I finally went out and bought the fabric to make my pillow. I can't wait to try it! I'm your newest follower :0). Thanks for the detailed tutorial!
I just made this flower, and it is one of my faves!! It took me quite a few rounds (and some hand cramping lol) until I got it perfect, but they are fabulous! My sisters and I will definitely be using these for family pictures soon!! Thank you for sharing :)

Thanks so much for sharing!
These are AWESOME!!! Thanks for the tutorial!
I was unclear on the fabric strips. How wide are they? How long? Are they folded more than once to hide the raw edge of the fabric so they don't ravel? Are they sewn together or simply ironed? Sorry for all of the questions... I just love what you did and want to duplicate!
LOVE THIS!!! :) I just found you now, yay Pinterst.
Hello, Thanks, great instructions, pinning you!
Just made my first one. You make it look easy. It turned out ok, but I think I will have to practice a few more time on making it more of a flat rose like yours. I want to add them to some pillows I made for my SIL. Thanks for the directions.
I think you did a great job! I like your soft voice, you are easy to listen too and not pretentious. Thanks for the flower tute. I discovered your blog because someone pinned your plywood flooring and I'll go back to that and leave a comment. Thank you so much for the flower tute and I have tons of old quilting fabric I can use!
What kind and how much of fabric would I need to make the giant roses? Can you post the dimensions please? Thank you!
I can't seem to find your video tutorial? Did you remove it?

Have you ever thought about adding a little bit more than just your articles? I mean, what you say is fundamental and all. But think of if you added some great graphics or video clips to give your posts more, "pop"! Your content is excellent but with pics and videos, this website could certainly be one of the very best in its field. Wonderful blog!
