love these!

Winners have been chosen
Giveaway closed

The same friend Kara that showed me how to do the scrabble tile pendants, told me about these glass tile pendants.

They turned out so cute! I just love them! They are even easier than the scrabble tiles!

(love my green jacket. thanks kelly who hooked me up at christmas!)

You'll need:

glass tiles
bails
diamond glaze
scrap booking paper

(I ordered the tiles and bails from this store.)

Trace your tile onto your scrap booking paper.

Cut it out a tiny bit smaller than your tracing line.

Cover the back of your tile with diamond glaze.

Place your paper face down onto the tile. Press firmly all around the paper onto the tile. Flip tile over to make sure the diamond glaze looks nice and smooth where it shows through to the front.

Cover the back of the paper with diamond glaze to seal it.

If you want you can use a foam brush to spread it around evenly.

Wait a few minutes for the diamond glaze to dry, then glue a bail to the back of the tile.

Want one?! Leave a comment letting me know! I don't have these exact ones left, but I can make ones that are similar using the same paper. So you can let me know which one you like in the comments. You could also get a little crazy and let me run free like the wild woman I am, and let me surprise you!

Trey or Lucy will pick a winner out of a hat in a couple of days.

what i've been up to today

So a few months ago my sister-in-law Stephanie (aka Stooph) sent me a photo of the most adorable red cape. She asked me if I would make it for her for her Birthday...and if I did it could be my present to her for the next 30 Birthdays.

I said "now that's a deal!"

It's not done, but it is sure close! Travis was very nice to watch the kids today while I worked.

Stephanie has a really fun style so I was excited to give something like this a try.

Check out that super sassy lining she choose. Love it Stooph!

*Get ready because I am going to have some fun and easy sewing projects coming up!

kiss jars

I got a comment a couple of weeks ago from Rambling Gal asking for a Valentines idea. She has a great blog, and she is from Georgia! There is something about that state that makes me want to visit. Maybe it's the peaches?
So Trey, Lucy, and I came up with these little numbers!
They are kiss jars. They will make great Valentines for our friend and family.

We just took old glass jars and added Hershey Hugs & Kisses.

Then we decorated the outside with scrap booking paper and stickers.
(I got these very cute heart stickers from Michael's with a gift certificate from my sister-in-law Emily. Thanks Toad!)

The lucky person who gets this Valentine will get a whole jar of
"bear hugs"
from Trey and Lucy.
(I made these little notes in photoshop and just printed them onto card stock. If you don't have photoshop just cut out a cute picture and paste it onto card stock with a hand written message.)

The kids filled it with bears (teddy grahams) and hugs (Hershey's hugs).

Lucy & Trey are so creative! I love to see what they come up with. They did these two jars with very little help! Treys is on the right. I love the heart pattern he came up with!
Smart little tiger.

Now go...grab those glass jars out of your recycling bin and make some Valentines!

flying tomato

one of the best things about being a mom is getting to see your kids so something for the first time. during the christmas break, we couldn't get enough of the snow, so decided to head to the mountains. trey really wanted to have his try at snowboarding

travis showed him videos of professional snowboarders the night before to get him all excited about it.

the thing i was worried about the most, was the chair lift. he is only 4 years old for pete's sake! those things are dangerous. i told travis before he took him on, "i will kill you if he falls off that chair lift."

luckily they saw this little guy coming and this nice man helped trey get right on.
so i thought, for a second...

but wait a minute, he isn't on! travis for the love get that kid on that chair lift!

as travis is pulling trey on correctly he looks up to see if i am watching.

oh yes you better believe i am buddy! you are lucky!

then he give me the thumbs up to let me know everything is ok.

i waited and waited for them to come down. i was getting a little worried, when finally i spotted them!

phew! they are alive and looking well. i was expecting travis to be snowboarding right next to trey, holding him up as he went. when suddenly travis just sends the kid down the hill!

he was going pretty fast! i was just waiting for him to catch an edge and slam right into the snow.

but he didn't...

he just kept coming. you can see how far he has stayed up from looking at the orange flag where he started.

he was really flying at this point, and getting closer and closer to me. i started to run after him to try to stop him.

he saw what i was doing and started yelling "no mom no!"

so i did what it is so hard for moms to do, and let him go. he zoomed past my like a professional.

it was really an amazing thing to watch. he picked up snowboard just like that. travis said he was trying to instruct him on what to do, but he didn't want any part of it and just took off!

now he wants nothing more in his life than a snowboard of his very own.

my dad and little brother spencer came up for the day as well. spencer tried his luck at skiing and really did a great job!

my dad loves lucy, and she loves him. she usually goes running to him with open arms.

but, it was kind of funny because she didn't want anything to do with him in his ski get up.

if you are wondering what lucy and i were up to while travis and trey were skiing. you are looking it it right here. this is probably the 11th snowball this little darlin' ate. she couldn't get enough of them!

a christmas miracle

i am in a state of total depression. christmas is over and i just can't accept it. this happens to me every year. it has been harder this year because with the christmas season came something so very marvelous. the worst snowstorm oregon has seen in 40 years! my prayers had been answered. we even had snow on christmas day!

you have to understand something about snow and oregonians. we get snow so seldom that when it does snow everything shuts down. no one knows what to do with themselves. when i think about oregonions in the snow, i picture a bunch of chickens running around with their heads chopped off :o)

school was canceled for the whole week before christmas! our church was canceled 2 weeks in a row!

well the few days before christmas we were an hour away from home at travis's parents house. the road back home was so bad we were stuck! i was so worried we wouldn't make it back to our house in time for christmas! would santa know where we were?

everything was frozen solid. trees had so much ice on them they were dropping like flies! thousands of people were without power. we were thinking we were so lucky the power didn't go out at travis's parents place.

when suddenly we too were left in the dark!!!!!

noooooo! i started to panic. they have their own well, so when the power goes out they don't have water either! there were so many people without power that it took days to get the power back on. could we live this long with kids and no power!!???

it was getting cold very fast! here are the kids snuggling up with aunt marg under some warm blankets. we hadn't had dinner yet. but what can you make without a stove or water?

tuna fish sandwiches baby! if you wear a headlamp it makes it a little easier in the dark. thanks bill for lending it to me! travis later used it to change lucy's stinky diaper.

a few minutes later i started noticing travis gathering up some of our things. i knew exactly what was going on. he had decided we were going to forge the roads. "we've got to get back home," he said. i was very nervous about driving, but worried about the kids freezing all night. we packed some blankets, food, and water just in case and headed back.

the only cars that were really on the road were semi's.

here is a picture of the road. a couple of inches of slush that had frozen solid into ice! it was so bumpy we could barley talk to each other.

after 3 long hours we finally made it home. our subdivision had been just slammed with snow! look at these cars. this is how oregonians roll. it snows and they don't go anywhere.

i was so happy to be in a warm house. christmas was beautiful and magical. here trey is looking at our snow covered backyard.

christmas night we forged the roads back to the grandparents house.
my dad had gotten a little crazy and bought some snowmobiles! we had way too much fun in the field next to my parents house on these babies.

oh no don't worry that is not lucy's scared face. i would never make my kid so something that made them nervous :o)

my dad pulled us on tubes tied to the back of the snowmobile!

then we got this crazy idea. yes that is travis laying on a foam sled, holding a ski rope tied to the back of the snowmobile, with trey holding on his back for dear life!

here is a picture of me, taken by travis while riding on the back of the snowmobile. i can't believe i let him do that with my camera.

here is one of my sister emily just to make her mad. you have to zoom in on this one.

the snow lasted a couple of weeks. to many the snow was an inconvenience and they were sick of it after a couple of days.

it was a christmas miracle as far as i'm concerned.
