christmas star 2009

our 2009 Christmas star is finished and i couldn't wait to hang it in our home!

i used pictures from this past year, printed them out on card stock, and mod podged them on with the rest of the paper.

for the paper i used a K&Company Peppermint Twist Paper Pad.

They sell them at JoAnns for $14.99.

I couldn't find an example on their website but, I found a link here to show you what it would look like.

before i applied the top coat of mod podge, i made sure to write the year with a pen on one of the points of the star. i plan on making one each year.

click here for the directions i posted last year.

now go get yourself a metal star, some paper, and some mod podge and make yourself one of these. they make great Christmas gifts as well!

steal some pictures off your sisters blog and make her a Christmas star!

What a great idea. I just bought a metal star on 70% off & wanted to make it for Christmas. I wouldn't have thought to do pictures. I love the idea of making one each year! Thanks for sharing!

I made a lots of these in "mini's" last year for teacher gifts - they were a hit! Sadly Tanya, for the life of me, I can't figure out how to get my paper to line up like yours after being cut, I always get huge gaps! Help?

It is just beautiful! I made one last year after seeing yours for my daughter's teacher. I had another teacher friend take a photo of each kid in the class and applied them and wrote that they were her "superstars" since that is the school mascot. She said it was the BEST gift she ever recieved from a student!

Mine was not nearly as beautiful as yours but still cute. And of course I forgot to take a picture of it. :(

I love this idea. I really do. How do you print pictures on cardstock? AND do I need one of those paper cutter contraptions?

I think perhaps you should make THREE each year. Put two aside, so when your kids grow up & move out, you can send the ornaments along with them to decorate their first Christmas tree away from home. My oldest won't be home this year :-( because he is a newlywed, and they are saving $$$$ this holiday. We are in CHicago, and he is in Seattle. So I will have to go there sometime in the cold, cold winter, and harass them at THEIR house! But I do wish I had made ornaments for each of my children, as they are all getting OLD!!! (Youngest turned 18 this week)

These are adorable. I wish I could think of things like that on my own. I'll certainly be making one of these.

By the way, I have a little blog award for you to pick up on my blog. I hope you don't mind.

@cheapchichome. Cute idea--these stars are everywhere. The craft paper is a nice change from spray paint.
