one week down...

we started homeschool this week...

this morning i was getting ready in the bathroom, when i heard a little knock on the door...

"is that you trey?"

"yes lucy is still asleep, i am going to take a shower, let's get started with school before she wakes up!"

"trey that is a great idea!"

you see, little miss sassy pants lucy's school only takes about a half hour...so when she finishes before trey she just wreaks all kinds of havoc.

this is about how it goes:

"mom i'm done what next?"

"lucy i am helping trey right now you need to raise your hand thank you."

"mom i'm raising my hand!"
"mom do you see my hand!"
"MOM I AM DONE WHAT NEXT I AM RAISING MY HAND DO YOU SEE MY HAND MOM!!??"

yes it is just wonderful.
so trey and i have caught on to the fact that if we get an early start with school, lucy will wake up and meld right into what we are doing when we are halfway done, and it works out a lot better.

so here we are while lucy is still sleeping eating some cereal.

we set up my camera and had a little fun with it....

if you look closely you can see what kind mother i am by the fact that i have my hand on the back of my sons neck holding him up so he has to be in the picture...oh and a firm grip on his arm as well.  ha!

"eat your cereal boy and get up and practice your reading!"

anyway, whether you are homeschooling or sending your child off on the bus, i hope you are having a heck of a time doing it!

*raising hand* I love your blog!:)

I am homeschooling my crew for the first time this year - lovin' it! We also have the "preschool interference" every.single.day. Gotta love paint boxes!

Too funny! I can only imagine what a challenge that is with such different ages!

I wish you would have been my teacher too. Maybe you could have taught me how to sew. I mean REALLY do it.

I love how you get dressed for school, even when you are staying home!:)

Oh wow! I never would have guessed that Lucy could be that persistent. Whenever I see her at church she is so quiet and sweet, especially when I have sat in on her class. (She is in the same class as Ash.)
Speaking of school--I am giving it a go this year with Ash. He is doing ok so far. Wish me luck that I make it to June in one piece. :-)

We just started this week, too! Is it bad that I'm already thinking I need a curriculum day? ;) Happy schoolin'!

stumbled on your blog a few months back and have really enjoyed it! We are homeschooling for the first time too but my boys are 10 and 5 and the littlest almost 2. We are learning to toggle assignments and I have to keep small craft projects and some pbs kids pc time aside for the 5 year old when I really need to concentrate with my oldest. That interest level is definitely not going to last much longer so we're going to have to get really creative!

that sounds like a good plan. do you ever get anyone to really raise their hand? i don't. my 1 year old wrecks havoc on our homechooling routine.

just little lucy has to raise her hand. she wants all the attention all of the time.

I have to tell you that you've got me so excited about homeschooling my kids one day! I only have 1 baby girl right now and another baby on the way, but when they get ready for that age I really wanna do it! :)
I love seeing that you and your kids have fun doing it and being together all day, 'cause when I was homeschooled as a kid it was fun and exciting most of the time, but my Mom and I didn't get along too well, so it's nice to see that it's possible for everyone to have a good time ;)
