we spent the weekend before christmas with travis's brother peter and his family at their parents house in salem. peter works at a news station and sometimes will make these segments that are really good and hilarious! well this year he did one on how to catch santa clause. click here to watch it!
peter showed the segment to trey and he loved every second.
well, christmas eve came and trey decided that he wanted to catch santa as well.
so he got some cookies or "santa bait" as he called it.

a "squirrel trap"
which consisted of a storage bin, a stick, and some yarn.

he was so excited to catch santa that it took him 2 hours to fall asleep. he even turned on our fireplace so he could "burn santa's bum" when he came down the chimney.
in the morning he heard santa's bells, pulled the string, and ran down stairs to find the trap pulled, cookies eaten, but no santa! santa left him a note which said "trey your uncle peter caught me with this trap, but i am much smarter now. i have a lot of presents to deliver to other girls and boys, so it's a good thing you didn't catch me."

can I be your kid? oh, and can I get one of those cookies?
That is so unbelievably sweet! I told hubby we had it easy this year -- two year old who fell asleep right away and woke up like normal. Next year starts the waiting and waiting till they fall asleep to make the "magic" happen and then getting up at dawn to open presents!! :)
Darn that Peter...not leaving any fun for anyone else!:)Maybe next year Trey!
hahaha!!! Oh, the magic of Christmas was almost spoiled for the rest of us :) Don't ever try to catch Santa again. . .
Glad he didn't catch Santa...I think I would have had an upset little girl...lol
The things our kids can come up with...they are smart little ones!
that little boy seriously has the best childhood. you guys are always doing or creating fun things for him! i love that he fell asleep with the yarn .. it was only a matter of time right! :)
